What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is an ancient healing practice that has been used for thousands of years as part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It involves inserting very thin, sterile needles into specific points on the body to stimulate the nervous system, release hormones, and promote natural healing. Acupuncture helps restore balance in the body and is used to treat a wide range of conditions, including:
- Chronic pain
- Headaches and migraines
- Digestive issues
- Stress and anxiety
- Depression
- Menstrual irregularities
- Musculoskeletal injuries
Is Acupuncture Safe?
Yes, acupuncture is a safe and effective treatment when performed by a trained and licensed professional like Emily. Acupuncturists undergo extensive education and hands-on training to understand human anatomy, proper needle techniques, and hygiene practices. When performed correctly, acupuncture carries minimal risk and offers numerous benefits for physical and emotional health.
Most people find acupuncture to be a relaxing experience with little to no discomfort. While some may feel mild sensations like tingling or warmth at the needle sites, side effects are rare and typically mild. If you have any concerns, Emily will be happy to discuss them and ensure you feel comfortable with your treatment plan.
Insurance and Payment Options
Currently, Emily is accepting UCare insurance and we hope to get her credentialed with additional insurance providers soon. Some insurance plans do cover acupuncture, and for those that do not, we offer:
- Self-pay discounts
- Superbills for reimbursement (Some insurance companies will apply these toward deductibles)
If you’re unsure about your coverage, we recommend checking with your insurance provider to see if acupuncture is included in your plan.
We are thrilled to have Emily as part of our team and look forward to offering our clients a deeper level of holistic care. If you’re interested in learning more or scheduling an appointment, please call 218.270.8020.
